Right when I’m finally about to get what I want… what I want is changing. Isn’t life funny?
For years, I’ve been pursuing certain goals, pouring everything I had into them. And now, just as I’m close to arriving, I feel myself shifting. What do you do when your goals change before a previous version of you ever gets to realize them?
Honestly, I feel guilty. Like I owe it to an old version of me to finish what she started. I talked about this with my husband, and he said he’s felt it too. Sometimes, we evolve faster than our dreams do. Sometimes, we land in places we thought were years away, only to realize they don’t quite fit anymore.
But here’s the truth I keep coming back to:
You are not obligated to honor what a previous version of you wanted if it’s no longer aligned with who you are now.
Pause.
Realign.
What do you want today?
And even more importantly… what do you need?
I hope you've had a restful Sunday. Below are six journal prompts for you to explore, one for each dimension of your perspective.

Personal History
What is the biggest goal a previous version of you worked toward that no longer feels aligned? What changed? What does that shift reveal about your growth?
Environment
What do you want out of the environment you live in? What do you need? Is that what you've always wanted or needed?
Beliefs
What do you feel like a previous version of you was seeking from your beliefs? Are you seeking the same things now?
Emotions
Do you ever feel like you’re betraying an older version of yourself? What emotion sits underneath that feeling—guilt, loyalty, fear, nostalgia?
Relationships
Are you surrounding yourself with the people you truly need in this version of your life? What do you want from your friendships and connections right now?
Identity
What is the biggest difference between what you want and need today versus what you wanted and needed this time last year? What does that say about who you’re becoming?
Until next week,
