Below are 6 journal prompts for you to explore, one for each dimension of your perspective.
Personal History
This past week, my little sister graduated from high school. I wanted to give her something practical, something that could help her navigate the emotions of this moment. So, I wrote her letters.
I sat with my past self—17-year-old Sadie, heading off to college—and thought about what she needed, what she wished she would have known.
Our past isn’t just valuable for our own journey, our experiences can be a gift to others as well.
Who might your history and experiences be valuable to?
Environment
"Trees are the poems that the earth writes upon the sky." — Khalil Gibran
Find a tree this week that catches your attention.
Observe its shape, movement, stillness.
What is the poem it's writing?
Beliefs
Beliefs, by nature, are a way to place parameters around our thinking. They serve as boundaries—marking the divide between what we consider truth and what we don’t. These boundaries help us self-orient. They offer comfort, and a sense of belonging within our own sphere of truth.
What is one belief you hold that brings you comfort?
What is one belief that might be quietly limiting you?
Emotions
My body feels numb.
My mind is loud.
There’s a pit in my stomach that won’t settle.
I’m scared.
Scared I miscalculated.
Scared of how it will be received.
Scared it won’t be enough.
Scared to fail.
Welcome to the reality of bringing any idea to life... The journey of creation isn’t about escaping your deepest fears. It’s about willingly unearthing them, looking them dead in the eye, and choosing to move forward anyway.
Do it scared.
What fear is sitting closest to you right now?
Write about what it would look like to move forward with that fear—not in spite of it.
Relationships
You are in a relationship with more than just people.
By definition, a relationship is the way in which two or more concepts, objects, things, or people are connected.
So ask yourself:
What is your relationship with health?
What is your relationship with self-worth?
What is your relationship with money?
What is your relationship with success?
What is your relationship with trust?
The relationships we often overlook may be the ones most influential in shaping our lives.
Identity
Fashion—the way you dress, accessorize, and carry yourself—is a form of self-expression. It’s how you introduce yourself to the world without saying a word.
If someone only saw the way you dress, what would they assume about who you are? Does that reflect how you feel on the inside?
Until next week,
