With this being the first Sunday of the new year, I want to dedicate this week’s newsletter to setting intentions.
As the Calm app beautifully puts it:
"Unlike goals—which are often specific and target-driven—intentions are rooted in our deepest desires and values, shaping the quality of our experiences rather than just the outcomes. Through intention setting, we can identify what truly matters to us and make that the center of our daily actions and decisions."
The word “intention” has its roots in Latin, meaning “stretching” or “purpose.” By setting intentions, we make a powerful agreement with ourselves to grow beyond where we are and what we know.
Below are six journal prompts designed to help you set meaningful intentions for each dimension of your perspective.
Let's make 2025 the best year yet!
Personal History
It is only when we document where we've been that we can see how far we've come. One of the most effective ways to document your year is through a daily journaling practice. While a journaling practice might look a little different for everyone, it is important to create space to document this version of you.
A future version of you will look back on the year 2025 as a chapter in their personal story. The best thing you can do is give them something meaningful to reflect on—something that tells the story of who you are today.
How will you document and honor this version of you?
P.S. If you are looking for a daily journal, the VERSIONS journal offers a dedicated space to express gratitude, document emotions, become aware of emotional patterns, and release thoughts.
Environment
Each year of life seems to move faster and faster. The only way to prevent it from completely passing you by is to take mindful moments to slow down, breathe, and allow yourself to fully experience where you are.
What is one daily intention you can set to help you stay grounded and fully present in the moment?
Beliefs
Don't let the world alienate you from your own observations and insights.
How will you trust your beliefs, intuition, and the journey ahead?
Emotions
We can't expect ourselves to have a flawless year. Inevitably, there will be times of hardship, challenges, and difficulty. When it comes to the emotional dimension it is important to set intentions for how you want to navigate those emotions when they arise.
What internal environment do you want to cultivate for yourself when you experience difficult emotions?
Relationships
While meeting new people and making new friends can be intimidating, it allows us to expand our perspectives and open us to new ways of thinking and being.
How can you step outside your comfort zone to meet new people and build meaningful connections this year?
Identity
No one knows how to be you better than you do.
How do you plan to stay true to yourself throughout this year?
Until next week,
