Happy Sunday!
Below are 6 journal prompts for you to explore, one for each dimension of your perspective.
Personal History
I recently came across an intriguing article from the British Psychological Society on nostalgia. It explains that the word "nostalgia" comes from the Greek nostos (return) and algos (pain), meaning "the suffering evoked by the desire to return home."
The article outlines four key functions of nostalgia:
- It generates positive emotions.
- It enhances self-regard.
- It strengthens social bonds.
- It gives our lives meaning, helping us cope with existential threats.
What memories of your past do you feel nostalgic about? Does it make you feel like you’re trying to return home—either to a place, a feeling, or a version of yourself?
Environment
Environments are a reflection of the collection of perspectives within them. They shape the feelings we absorb and beliefs we embody.
Does the environment you're in influence you in a way that feels united or divided?
Beliefs
"It's the repetition of affirmations that leads to belief. And once that belief becomes a deep conviction, things begin to happen." - Muhammad Ali
What affirmation can you start practicing now to plant the seed for a future belief?
Emotions
When I hold DIMENSIONS in my hands, I often think that it is a beautiful thing to know that people can connect with a part of my past pain that has now become my purpose. Turning your pain into purpose is healing. It reassures you that your suffering wasn't for nothing.
How can you turn your pain into a purpose that heals you and others?
Relationships
Nobody prepares us for the emotions that arise when we start to walk a different path from those we've previously walked with.
Who in your life do you feel your path has diverged from, and how does it make you feel?
Identity
Life has felt slower because I have allowed it to be.
I've relinquished myself from the anticipation of what's to come tomorrow in order to allow myself to fully enjoy today.
Lately, I've been enjoying my todays more than I ever could have imagined.
How does slowing down and embracing the present moment help you feel more connected to who you're becoming?
Until next week,
